Natural Remedy for Gray Hair

As we age, the body produces less melanin, a substance responsible for our hair color. This is just one of the many reasons why people have gray hair. Stress and smoking also can contribute to turning a person's hair gray, sometimes prematurely. However, there are a few natural remedies you can use to can slow down or reverse the process. Does this Spark an idea?

Indian Gooseberry Oil

For centuries, as part of the Indian culture, gooseberry has been used effectively to cover gray hair. In addition to covering the gray, it improves the health of the hair, giving it a glossy shine. Gooseberry oil is easy to make and, if applied regularly, can start restoring your natural hair color. Slice some fresh gooseberries and store them until they are dry. Heat two cups of coconut oil and add the dried gooseberry slices. Bring this mixture to a boil. When the gooseberry slices start to turn black, turn off the heat. Remove the pot and let the mixture cool. Massage this oil into your scalp every day.

Curd and Black Pepper

Using 100 g of curd, add 1 g of black pepper and mix thoroughly. Apply the mixture to the hair evenly and leave on for an hour. Then wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Repeat this procedure once a week. You should notice that your hair will begin to have a silky texture due to the curd. The black pepper is what will turn your hair black. Curd also helps prevent dandruff. Following this procedure faithfully, once a week, can help you maintain your hair color and delay any signs of gray.

Sage

Sage is an herb known for relaxation, but used as a rinse, it can restore your natural hair color. Take cup of dried sage leaves and boil in 2 cups of water for 30 minutes. Let the liquid steep for a few hours. Apply to the hair and leave it on until it dries. Rinse and dry your hair. Repeat this procedure once a week until your natural hair color returns and then monthly to maintain the color.

When using sage as a rinse, it's important to remember to rinse your hair with the liquid 15 times, using the same liquid. Omitting this step will make the rinse less effective. On the last rinse, squeeze out the excess liquid and wait for 15 minutes before you rinse with water.
